Elo TouchSystems Becomes Touchscreen Supplier to IBM

IBM’s Touch-Activated POS Terminals to Incorporate Elo’s AccuTouch Touchscreens

Elo TouchSystems, a world leader in touchscreen technology, today announced it has signed an OEM agreement with IBM to become the supplier of touchscreen systems for IBM’s new family of touch-activated point-of-sale (POS) terminals. Under the agreement, IBM, the world’s leading supplier of POS terminals, will use Elo TouchSystems’ resistive touchscreens to provide durable, cost-effective touchscreen POS systems.

IBM announced recently that it plans to introduce a line of IBM POS terminals that will incorporate Elo’s industry-leading AccuTouch® touchscreens. IBM’s new Sure Point Touch Screen uses the AccuTouch HL series touchscreen, the brightest and most durable resistive touchscreen on the market.

IBM’s Distribution Solutions unit provides a broad range of hardware, software, and services to consumer goods manufacturers, wholesale distributors, and retailers. Its Raleigh, N.C., facility develops and manufactures POS terminals and other products and services for the distribution industry. IBM also provides business transformation and IT consulting services to the industry.

Elo TouchSystems, the inventor of touchscreen technology, has installed more than 400,000 touchscreen systems throughout the world. Its solutions are used in a variety of applications, including retail and restaurant point-of-sale systems, gaming kiosks, industrial and medical equipment, and control systems.
